BABY'S ROOM

Kay, so seriously, one of the best best parts about being pregnant and having a little human on the way is creating a space for him. My nesting urge has been threat level midnight lately and I have probably driven Dal absolutely CRAZY, but I can't stop, won't stop. I've always been an organizing freak, but this pregnancy thing has taken it to a whole new level of crazy. I realize more and more
each day just how OCD I am about... well, just about everything. Yep. Gotta keep organizing and cleaning and rearranging and color-coding everything until baby is here.

We live in a 2-bedroom apartment and have used our second bedroom as an office space for Dal and I since we moved in. Sooooo we've been slowly figuring out how to maneuver our space to turn it into baby's room. Thankfully Dal made a deal with our landlord and now has a separate "workshop" that has become his own little man cave (so baby's room is not full of power tools, ammunition, and gun accessories, phew!).

So, baby's room. I've changed directions for the baby's room theme like 12309345 times (thanks, Pinterest for never-ending new ideas... #foreverpinningthingstomyweddingboard), BUT I finally arrived at somewhat of a cohesive theme for the room. We'll call it "neutral-woodsy-modern-rustic-travel" theme. Crystal clear? Good.

I've had a blast making things, re-doing things, and bargain shopping the crap out of this room. And it's FINALLY almost done. I'm sure I'll do a few more last minute tweaks and final touches, but for now, it's perfect. And I cannot WAIT to bring a little baby into this space we created for him.

Here's the view when you first walk through the door, into the nursery. This is actually my desk, which we are keeping in baby's room... cuz there's nowhere else to put it. :) Haha. But I majorly de-girlified it and moved almost everything off the top. All that's left are a few decor pieces, my mirror, and a basket full of my hair products, perfume, etc.

Above the desk, we hung one of the chalkboards that Dal made for me. I loooooooove it. And seriously, a chalkboard is such a fun piece for decorating because you can change it as often as you want & it adds something slightly new and different to the room. Right now, for baby's room, I chose the phrase "All of God's grace in one tiny face." Just feels perfect for our sweet little squish's arrival. :)

Here's more of a closeup of the little decor pieces on my desk. A succulent, white giraffe, and cool geometric candle holder. All three are from TJMaxx.

Moving to the next wall in the nursery... we have the crib! We bought the crib several months ago and it made me soooo happy to have it set up in the room. Every time I walk in and see it sitting there, I get excited and anxious to meet my little boy. The crib sheets are arrow print, which I love. They're simple but feel fresh and modern and perfect for my "neutral-woodsy-modern-rustic-travel" theme. :)

The bear sitting in the corner is a stuffed animal I had growing up (still can't remember where it came from or who gave it to me), but it's name is Cinnamon and he's in pretty good shape still. And lastly, the deer/plaid blanket draped over the crib was made by me, with flannel from JoAnn's (am I the only one who just cannot bring myself to say "JoAnn" ...even though that's *technically* the correct name? lol).

So, if you didn't get it already, my color scheme for the room is basically neutrals (black, white, and gray) with touches of wood. I found these frames at TJMaxx a while ago and thought they fit perfectly. The arrow print and "I Am a Child of God" print were free downloads I found on Pinterest. :)

Then... we move on to my favorite part of the room. :)

In this corner, we have a small bookcase with random items... his shoes, a few books, our printer, pens/pencils, etc. Basically just storage for more things that don't fit anywhere else in our house. Haha. And then, my favorite part-- his dresser/changing table.

Again, my favorite part of the room. This dresser is an upcycle we (mostly Dal, he is the BEST) did, from a $20 dresser we found at DI. You can see a before/after pic below of the whole transformation.

It's perfect, guys. *Tip*: Marry a boy who will take on your crazy, silly DIY dreams with you.

The clock and tall plant are from TJMaxx. The changing pad and arrow changing pad cover were both finds on Amazon. And my absolute favorite part of the whole room, the map, was painted/made by me. :) I knew I really wanted a world map, but I couldn't find one I liked that wasn't a gajillion dollars. So I decided to just paint my own and frame it at Michaels, and I'm sooo happy with how it turned out.

Another reason I love the dresser is at sooo satisfies my OCD and my need to organize everything. I love the drawers and cupboards and all the space I have to neatly organize the diapering/clothing/feeding supplies. So satisfying!

And.... let's not forget this adorable rug. I love the simplicity of the stripes. And, *surprise*, I love gray + white. Dal gave the rug to me for Christmas. It's from RugsUSA (on Amazon).

And that's about it, folks! I'm still working on getting the closet all organized and figured out. But, this is where we're at so far. And I love it. Can't wait for little Baby Brown to get here! <3
